Pictured here in the ground and then in context, under the wigwag at the allotment… An allotment I’m trying to make as wildlife friendly as possible, under the watchful eye of the Town Council… There are rules about keeping them neat & productive after all.
Interestingly, bonfires are no longer allowed, because of the newly real danger with the soaring summer temperatures we are now getting. We are lucky to have water on site but the hosepipe ban still applies.
I inherited some currant bushes which must admit I don’t net (allowing the birds to feast on the fruit instead”)
But back to the dandelion … hiding in among the phacaelia self sown seedlings, behind some willow structures and sheltered by the shed. I’m going to keep it so that come February it might flower and feed early flying Queen Bumblebees as they emerge from hibernation.
So in a funny way, the dandelion will be my “funny Valentine” in the immortal words of Tom Waits, to the new burst of life early next Spring.
